Spanish

All students in Kindergarten through Grade 4 receive an introduction to the Spanish language and culture.  The curriculum is presented in an active, cheerful manner with never a dull moment!  During their once a week lesson, the instructor emphasizes listening, comprehending, and speaking the language.  Students learn to speak the basics of Spanish (ABC's, numbers, colors, days of the week, seasons, months of the year, etc.) through games, songs, and conversations.  They also learn about traditions, dance styles, and prayers.

All students in fifth through eighth receive an introduction to the Spanish language and culture.  The curriculum helps the students to develop an understanding of the four basic language skills of listening, comprehending, speaking, and reading/writing while at the same time exploring and understanding the culture of the Spanish speaking countries.  The instructor uses maps, songs, games, movies, newspapers, and websites in the classroom setting to enhance the curriculum.  Traditional foods, fiestas, and dances from the Spanish speaking countries are also part of the lessons.  Students learn to say prayers in Spanish too!
