The PJAS competition scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd, tomorrow, is going as scheduled. The regional director has reported that NO cancellation or postponement will be in effect. Please use caution and carpool if possible. Don't forget your slides. If I have edited slides for you, be sure to get them from me when you arrive. Be sure to check in with me when you get there. The big day is fast approaching. The Regional PJAS competition will be this Saturday, February 23 at the Easton High School. The students will be given a sheet of information on Thursday. Presenters should be there between 8-8:30am. Technicians should arrive no later than 8am. Casual professional dress. Don't forget the slides!

Mid-term exams will start next week. This is a completely comprehensive exam and will include information from every chapter we have covered so far this year. Below I will list the chapters for each grade. Study guides will be issued. The website, How-to-study.com, may be helpful in recommending methods for organizing and studying this much material. We will do some reviewing in class next week.

To the parents of my homeroom: As you may know, our homeroom mothers are arranging the Christmas party and you should have received a notice from them asking for help. The children will, I'm sure, appreciate any help you can offer. In addition to the party, we will exchange gifts, acting as the Magi in the original Christmas story. We will draw names for the exchange some time this week. Please try to stay around $10. If anyone cannot participate, please let me know so that I can fill in. I do not want any child left out. Since we are going on a field trip on Tuesday, Oct. 23, one of the sixth grade classes will not meet, so, in fairness, the lab will be moved to Wednesday and the Test to Thursday, October 25. Sorry for this late submission. The 6th grade test for Chapter 3 will be next Wednesday, 10/10. The afterschool study session will be on Tuesday, 10/9. The tests and homework are posted in the classroom in two places for the students' benefit. It is my hope that they will become more independent in keeping up with this type of information as the year progresses.

We are moving slower than I anticipated through chapter two, so we will add an extra day of instruction. This bumps our Test to Wednesday, Sept. 26, which moves our after school study session to Tuesday, Sept. 25 until 4:15. You may pick up your child outside my classroom on the south side of the building. This is the same door for car rider pick up. Remember, your child must have a note to stay. Just in case materials did not reach home, please find attached the directions to Easton High School. Students should check in between 8 and 8:30am. I will send a copy of room assignments and the itinerary today. Students should wear nice clothes, no jeans or sneakers. Students may leave when their room is finished which may be as early as 11am. The Chapter 7 test will have to be postponed until next week, although Catholic Schools' week is usually very busy with extracurricular events. This chapter is requiring more time than previously anticipated. "Forces in Fluids" are proving to be a challenge. We will not have our review until next Tuesday, January 30, and I do not see both classes on Wednesday, so the test will be Thursday, January 31. I apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks.

We continue to develop our PowerPoint in the computer lab. We will complete our slides and make revisions the week of January 29 which is also Catholic Schools week. Tuesday, February 6, we will have our mock competition here at St. Mike's. Students have been given a notice about this which requires a response from parents by Friday, 1/19. The event will be from 6pm to around 8:30pm. Each student should be able to present at least twice. The students should have had their PowerPoint converted into fixed transparencies by 2/6. This can easily be done at Staples or Office Depot. Any questions, please email me. Thanks.
